bells that never sing

Jonah Hex strikes me as a very interesting character.

After I found out that Megan Fox is going to be in the movie I got all excited and started reading up about the comics.

Half of Jonah's face is grotesquely scarred because a heated tomahawk was pressed against it as punishment for fighting unfairly (in the eyes of the Indians). He is also apparently very mean and an alcoholic. He is therefore very much the antihero. I think the movie should be better than the comics as he has Megan (or Leila, as is her name in the movie) to make things all nice for him at the end of the day. His love life doesn't seem quite so blissful in the comics. All the women he loves seem to die or leave him.

The movie producers have made Jonah look more appealing in the movie. At least, this is what I have gathered from the few pictures I've seen of him on set. I suppose it's not to scare kids. And as awesome as Megan Fox seems to be, I doubt even she can stand too much of an exposed eyeball.

The antiheroes are always the most intriguing aren't they? The ones who are not at all good looking and have some sort of horrible past. They're not completely selfless and courageous (like say... Superman) but are doing good for selfish reason. There's V, who goes against a totalitarian government because he wants vengeance for what it did to him. Then there's Spike who got his soul back and then sacrificed himself for Buffy. And of course there's Snape.

Here I must digress, why WHY WHY was Snape so fat in HBP? He is supposed to be thin. Really thin. JKR even described him as gaunt, which makes sense. I don't exactly see Snape going around stuffing himself with chocolate frogs. He's more of an 'eat to live' sort of person. His hair should also be longer, lanker AND he needs to dress less like a priest. AND AND... gah. He just needs to be more like his description in the book. But Warner Bros doesn't seem to care about some minute details.

Dexter Morgan! How could I have almost forgotten him? Especially since I'm beginning to really enjoy Dexter. There's a definite stress in the anti of his antihero. A psychopathic, super intelligent serial killer. But you just can't help grow fond of Dexter and root for him.

Some people are not even remotely close to being heroes. Or even villains. So they can't be antiheroes can they? They're the extras. The ones with no lines, no background story and no interaction whatsoever with the gun-slinging bounty hunter. I don't like being mean but right now I can't be bothered. I failed my driving test and that has put me in a foul mood.
